MEET OUR FOUNDER

I´m Rachelle, a marine biologist and former surf photographer. My favourite thing is adventure, so naturally, I want to share it.

Since I was five years old, I’ve been obsessed with the ocean. I grew up under the California sun in San Diego, collecting shells, watching tidepools, and telling everyone I was going to be a marine biologist. As soon as I could, I bought a plane ticket and took off to see the world, eventually becoming a surf photographer in some of the most beautiful and remote places.

When COVID hit and I lost my job, I finally took the leap and made good on that childhood promise: I went back to uni and became a marine biologist. Today, I blend my love of science, creation, and ocean play to help raise a generation that understands, respects, and loves the sea.

BACKSTORY

How Peggy Started

Peggy & The Sea was born from the deep belief that childhood moments can shape an entire life. The ocean has influenced every decision I’ve made from how I played as a child to the places I lived, the work I pursued, and the person I became.

After finishing my studies in marine science, I realised that if I could share even a glimpse of that magic with the next generation, if just one child could feel a spark of wonder and connection to the sea, it could shift the entire trajectory of their life. Like the butterfly effect, one small moment of curiosity could ripple outward into a future shaped by nature, adventure, and care for the planet.

What We Stand For

Our work is rooted in science, delivered with creativity, and always grounded in what really matters, raising a generation that feels at home by the sea.

We believe ocean play is essential, not extra.
Unstructured, nature-based play builds smarter, freer, and more connected kids.
We fuse science with soul.
Marine biology meets imagination because curiosity and wonder belong together.
We raise oceanfolk, not just kids.
Our sessions create lifelong bonds with the sea, starting from babyhood.
We’re building a sea village.
Families deserve community, connection, and shared ocean adventures.
Keep It Real & Outdoors
Nature is the classroom, playground & the teacher.
